Postcard with a black and white photograph of Joe Lawrence taken during the Old Home Week parade in 1908. Joe Lawrence was a seven foot tall man. In the photograph he is wearing a dress and holding a parasol while walking in the Old Home Week parade. The picture focuses on Lawrence who is in the center of the picture, looking straight on to the camera while walking. In the foreground on the right side of the photograph is a part of a wheel. In the background, a crowd of people stand looking on with buildings behind them and flags hanging overhead. People can be seen in the windows of the building watching the parade. Written on the back of the postcard is: "This is the only one I have got left of Guelph Old Home week procession. It is a man standing seven feet in a lady dress representing a firm from Toronto." |
