Title Medical Prescription from Dr. A.B. McCarter
Description Prescription Note or directions for giving enemas; rectangular beige paper with black printed letterhead. Note is handwritten in blackish brown ink. This note communicates five steps or directions. The writing is almost illegible due to old fashioned style of writing.
Letterhead at top: "Dr. A.B. McCarter / 126 Norfolk Street / Guelph, Canada."
Directions in Note:
"1. Wash well with soap & water. / 2. Enema of borax (1 teasp in 1 pint of water) to be given with a catheter.
3. Follow #2 by enema of ? (1 oz. in 1 pint of cold water, well washed & strained).
4. Rub ointment well down rectum.
5. Every other night use salt - (1teaspoon to 1 pint) instead of #3. Repeat each night for 7 nights, then every other night for 2 weeks."
