Postcard from Guelph, Ont. to England, South Wales, postmarked May 6 1910. Published by W. C. MacFarlane Publisher Toronto and Buffalo. Printed in Germany. The front of the postcard features a view of St. George's Anglican Church Guelph, a Gothic style building, from Arthur Street. A river and footbridge are in the foreground. The image is captioned "St. George's Church, Guelph" in white text printed along the lower left. The message written on the back in blue ink reads: "Dear Sister Just a line to wish you many happy returns of the day, it is rather late but better late than never. I am feeling ten times better in health, being out here, I have got a fine appetite, can eat cooked food every meal same as Harvey used to have at home. I shall soon get too big for my clothes. Dear Sis If I were your [illegible] to come out here with us [illegible] is quite different to what is at home. I shall start work next week. I am playing for the church parade on Sunday, it is a fine band. I have been at the [illegible] to tea every day this week. Having [illegible] Love to you and all at home from your loving brother Albert xxxxx" Addressed to "Miss L. Palmer 25 [illegible] St. Barry Dk. W. Cardiff England, South Wales". The postmark reads "Guelph Ontario May 6 1910 at 230pm" and is stamped in black ink on the back. |
