|Year Range to||1902.0|
Two metal (soft) bands along top and bottom to keep it from curling when it is hung. There is a metal clip on the back so it can be hung.
Words on the poster read, "Compliments of Chas. Powell, St. George's Square = = Guelph, ONT/ Model Bakery/ Telephone 268." And on the bottom left corner: "Toronto, Litho. Co. Ltd. Impts. and Pubs."
At the centre of the bottom is a small date calendar from 1902 running from August to December. It is red and blue.
The image appears to be of a home of an upper class family having a party with their upper class friends. They have spilled into the kitchen from the dinning room and some guests are still in the doorway. A man in the foreground is blindfolded and grabbing the face of a black woman (maid) working in the kitchen, trying to kiss (?) her. She looks very shocked. Guests are looking on with amusement and some are laughing.
There is a chandler in the room behind time, there is a chair in one corner in the kitchen and a steaming kettle in the other. There is a wooden island in the middle that the maid is working at probably making dough. She has flour up to her elbows. There is a tall bag of flour or sugar with a scoop in it in from of the island.
Men are wearing tuxedos with white bow ties and all have some kind of facial hair (mutton chops or pointy mustache). The women are in fancy, colourful dresses with their hair done up and heels. The maid is wearing a blue dress with an apron and a black bow tie.
