Letter; handwritten in black ink on white paper with company letterhead printed in black at top of paper. Letter from Lyman Upson, of "THE UPSON-MARTIN CO. INC. MANUFACTURERS OF AXMINSTERS. THOMPSONVILLE, CONNECTICUT." It is dated December 14, 1912 and is addressed to Mr. T.C. Westoby, 143 Glasgow St. Guelph, Ont. The letter is a response to Mr. Westoby's request (See 1979.65.12) and recommends Mr. C. H. Gethin for the position in Guelph.
" Your inquiry of the 12th inst. relating to Mr. C.H. Gethin has my attention.
Mr. Gethin has had a wide experience in the weaving of Brussels, wilton, and saxony carpets and we consider him fully competent to take charge of manufacturing of this class of goods and equip at mill with necessary machinery.
Mr. Gethin for several years held a similar position with the Hartford Co. of this town and filled the position satisfactorily.
The writer at that time being resident ? for the Hartford Co.
