|Year Range to||1912.0|
Letter, typewritten in blue ink on white paper. From Mr. T. C. Westoby 143 Glasgow Street, Guelph, Ont. and dated December 12, 1912. Addressed to Lyman Upson, Esq., Thompsonville, Connecticut. Letter requests a reference concerning C.H. Gethin
"who is now here [in Guelph] regarding the formation of a new carpet Co. to be established in Canada.
Under the terms of the agreement, if carried out, Mr. Gethin is to erect, equip, and fill the position of Supt. of a Company making Brussels, Wiltons, etc., and he is to receive a bonus of stock for his services, and a free site, and general exemptions from taxes for ten years.
Unless Mr. Gethin is fully capable to carry out the conditions of General Supt., and to fill all the conditions above mentioned, it would appear useless to go on with the scheme, and I would greatly value your opinion of this gentleman's ability to do so..."
