Black and white aerial photograph of Macdonell and Carden Streets during the Guelph Mercury fire, 1951. The photograph was taken by Raeburn Reid of Reid Flying Service. The photograph shows the centre building that had the fire is 77 Macdonell Street and in the photograph the building has been completely burned except for the facades on Macdonell and Carden Streets. In front of the building is a ladder fire truck. To the left of the Mercury building is the Royal Theatre and then beside that is the Royal Hotel complex. In the background is Carden Street and in the upper Right corner is part of the Canadian National Railway station. Printed in blue ink on the reverse: "Fire at The Guelph Mercury MacDonnell St." |
