Black and white photograph taken by Charles W. Thompson, depicting the demolition of the former Stewart Lumber Company building on Wyndham Street, 6 July 1921. The right hand side of the photo shows the ruins of the building. Only the back wall and part of the side wall remain standing. A few men standing in front of the site of demolition, men in a horse drawn carriage also stop to look. On the left hand side, a group of people are gathered outside on the sidewalk. The ice cream and candle parlour sign is visible on the building that remains standing. BACK: There is a white sticker at the top left corner that reads: "Wyndham St. demolishing of building next to ice cream and candles parlour. 6 July, 1921." "Photo by Charles. W. Thompson - 1921. July 6th." is written in blue pen in the centre of the photo, along with "1/2 in Black", written in pencil underneath. |
