Description Painted sandalwood folding fan. Leaf is a golden-brown open weave fabric with gold and pink sequins sewn across and at the centre of the fabric is a row of hand painted pink and blue flowers; gold paper is along the top edge of the fabric; at the base of the fabric is painted sandalwood. There is a gradation of a dark brown to a white colour across the span of the fan; over the top of the gradated colours are painted red and pink carnations.The sandalwood has decorative organic shapes punched out; the painting appears to be water colour and it is only on one side of the leaf. The sticks are held at the end with a brass pin and ring.
