Postcard to Mrs. C. Pettifer of Guelph, postmarked 4 August 1911. The postcard is published by Rumsey & Company located at 1528 Queen St. West, Toronto, Canada. The front of the postcard features Raymond Factories on Suffolk, Yarmouth and Woolwich Streets. The image is captioned "Suffolk Street and Raymond Factory, Guelph, Canada" in black text printed at the top left. The message written on the back in black ink reads: "August 4th Dear Friends. I sincerely hope this will find you well & hope Mr Pettifer is improving. Could the three children come & take tea with us on Sunday next. I should be greatly pleased with love to all." Addressed to "Mrs. C. Pettifer 37 Park St. off Eramosa Road Guelph". The postmark in black ink stamped on the back of the card reads "Guelph, 4 Aug 1911 230pm". |

Historic Context Mrs. C. Pettiford is likely Catharine (Lehey) Pettiford (1846-1920). Catharine married Charles Pettiford (1841-1906) in 1866. Together they had at least five children: Charles (b. 1867), Edith (Pettiford) Fotheringham (1870-1948), Carla H.
