Small light brown cloth bound hardcover book entitled "Selections From Physicians' Prescriptions" by Dr. Jonathan Pereira. The book is 364 pages long with this being the eighteenth edition. The book serves as a medical reference book for physicians and offers abbreviations and translations for terms when prescribing. All text on the front cover and spine are hand tooled into the fabric and filled in with a gold colour. The pages have a deckled edge. Front Cover: "Selections from Physicians' Prescriptions, Dr. Pereira" within a double border. Front Inside Cover: Broadfoot's Pharmacy stamp and logo in a faded plum colour "Broadfoot's Pharmacy 99 Upper Wyndham St. Guelph- Ont.". printed inside of a cross shape "The Red Cross Pharmacy J. B. Broadfoot, {with two lines of text crossed out with blue ink in each cross that appears in the book}, Guelph". Page 1: The first page opposite the front inside cover has hand written across the top in blue ink "J. Bruce Broadfoot, Toronto, Ontario, C. C. P. 1901-02". Along the bottom is the same Broadfoot's Pharmacy stamp and logo in a faded plum colour. Spine: At the top "Selecta E Praescriptis" surrounded by a single line border. In the middle "Edited by Joseph Ince" and along the bottom "18th Edition". Title Page: "Selections from Physicians Prescriptions" Publishers Page: The Broadfoot's Pharmacy logo stamp within the cross shape is very faint in the top right corner of the page. The text reads "Selecta E Praescriptis, Selections from physicians' Prescriptions, containing lists of the terms, phrases, contractions, and abbreviations used in prescriptions, with explanatory notes; the grammatical construction of prescriptions; rules for the pronunciation of pharmaceutical terms; a prosodical vocabulary of the names of drugs, etc.; and a series of abbreviated prescriptions illustrating the use of the preceding terms, to which is added a key containing the prescriptions in an unabbreviated form, with a literal translation for the use of medical and Pharmacentical students. Table of Contents: The Table of Contents is five pages long and is split into three parts. Part I "General Remarks on Prescriptions" contains ten chapters with some chapters being separated into numerous "section". Part II "Prescriptions in an Abbreviated Form" and Part III "Unabbreviated Prescriptions, with Translations". The Broadfoot's Pharmacy stamp and logo is stamped in numerous places throughout the book including the front inside cover, the first page, the title page, page 192 and 193, page 247 and the back inside cover. |
