Letter from Thomas Young Greet to his sister, Emma "Charlie" Sandilands Greet, dated 23 March 1893. The letter is written on one sheet of paper, folded in half and written on both sides. The letterhead printed in black script at top of teh page reads "Thos. Y. Greet, Ontario Bank, Kingston". Thomas writes about his malady. He is annoyed with Saunders who has never said a word to him about his malady being incurable. He writes "I am not a baby and should not be treated as one." |

Biographical Context: Thomas Young Greet was the son of Richard Greet (1815-1867) and Mary Sandilands (1821-1907). Thomas was born in Guelph on 10 February 1846. On 25 July 1877, Thomas married Helen Emily Bray in Walkerton, Ontario. None of the couple's children survived to adulthood. Thomas died in Toronto on 17 April 1893. Emma "Charlie" Sandilands Greet was born 9 November 1856 in Guelph to Mary (Sandilands) and Richard Greet. Emma was also known as "Charlie" to her friends and family. She did not marry and has no known children. Emma died on 5 May 1922 in Berkeley, California, USA. |
