Guelph Opera House Company Trust Lottery Ticket, 1883. The ticket is printed on a thin light green paper and is printed on both sides. The ticket was originally a tri-fold and one end was meant to tear off if the holder ordered shares. This ticket was never used. The ticket states that to raise money for the Guelph Opera House you could purchase shares and get a chance to win some money. There were 1871 prizes, with one grand prize of 30,000. The draw was originally scheduled for October 30, 1883 but according to the tiocket was postponed to December 18, 1883. On one side of the ticket, it lists the prize values, number of prizes and how the shares work. One section also gives instructions for how to order shares. On the other side of the ticket, there is the order form, a statement of authenticity of the draw from the Board of Trustees, and "Some Remarks pro and con on the Scheme" |
