Description |
Plaque consisting of the Lord's Prayer and ornamentation carved in wood in one dimension. The prayer is carved in a combination of type styles and is natural wood colour. The prayer is surrounded by carved birds, flowers and plants. In each corner is a dove. All of this carving is mounted on a brown cloth covered board and set in a light green frame and a glass covering the prayer. 84.4cm x 95cm x 4.3cm. Made by Benjamin Dixon of Markham, Jan. 10, 1902 aged 41yrs., father of Frederic W. Dixon of Guelph, who was 19 yrs. on City Council (d. 1975). Benjamin Dixon designed bookplate for presentation to King and Queen in 1939; and brother in law of Chas. Bedford. |
