White porcelain toilet (.1) with a wooden seat and tank. Stamped inside the toilet bowl is the logo of the James Robertson Company Limited. This toilet was in the basement of the Cutten family home at 13 Stuart Street. Arch H. Macdonald built the house in the mid-1870s with the Cutten family moving in by 1901. They added additions to the house in 1901 and 1934. Arthur Cutten (1870-1936) was born in Guelph in 1870. He left for Chicago and later made a fortune on the stock market. He lived at the house briefly before his death in 1936. Maud (Boomer) Cutten (1870-1961), who was Arthur's wife, and Evelyn Cutten (1874-1945) were the listed owners of the house. Other members of the Cutten family resided at this house during Maud and Evelyn's ownership. |
