Oil painting in white frame of Rev. Thomas Wardrope D.D., the first minister of Chalmers Church. The frame is a Victorian style frame with ornate carving that was probably at one point gilded that has since been painted over. At the base of the frame, in the centre, is a black plastic plaque, engraved with "Rev. Thomas Wardrope D.D. 1st Minister of Chalmers Church, 1869-1892" The painting is a bust portrait of an older gentleman wearing a dark suit with a white shirt and white bowtie. The Reverend has white hair and a white beard and blue eyes. The painting is signed on the right side, about halfway up. The signature is somewhat faint but reads "P. Dierlamm Startford". |
