Description |
This is bronze coloured metal shoulder title. It is rectangular shaped, stamped metal, reading "C.O.T.C." It has two fixed loop shanks on either side at the back. There is a single bar showing the letters, C.O.T.C. There are two fixed loop shanks on each side of the badge. It does not have a cotterpin. |

Historic Context: Canadian Training Corps at OAC The OAC Drill Company was organized in September 1914. The Ontario Agricultural College Contingent, Canadian Officers Training Corps was authorized by General Order 30 in March 1915. By fall of 1915, 256 people were enrolled with the COTC, including 25 members of College staff. The unit was made a permanent feature basis in 1923. In 1926 the wearing of badges featuring this design was authorized. The design features the crest of the OAC and the title of the unit. By 1939, it was recommended that every student join the COTC. On 6 December 1951, the designation of the unit was changed to the Ontario Agricultural and Veterinary College's Contingent COTC. The corps was disbanded May 31, 1968. Updated 2024 |
