Description |
Large square homemade banner celebrating John McCrae's one hundredth birthday. The banner was flown by The Guelph Happy Gang, part of the National Campers and Hikers Association, at the International Convention at Camp Atterbury Franklin, Indiana, 1972. A cream coloured cotton material with a large hem on the top and bottom with a brass grommet in each corner. The text and images have been hand painted onto the banner in black, red and green. The text reads "Guelph Honours 100th Birthday of Lt. Col. John McCrae, Author 'In Flanders Fields the poppies grow beneath the crosses row on row', (a row of six crosses with a row of six poppies below), Poppy World Symbol of Peace". "100", "John McCrae", "Poppy" and "Peace" are all painted in red with the rest of the text and crosses in black. The poppies are red, black and green. |
