Model of First Church Paisley Street Methodist |
Description |
Handmade wooden and cardboard model of "Paisley Street Methodist" Church, identified by a miniature plaque on the front of the model building. Structure of 1/2" square doweling with four horizontal beams top and bottom and four vertical beams in addition to 14 framing beams as can be seen through the opening in the bottom and back of the model. A cardboard layer covers the frame and comprises the details of the building and has been shaped and painted. Entire building is grey with brown roof tiles and large domed stain glass windows made of a plastic sheets. Each window has 8 yellow panes surrounded by 24 small panes of reds and blues. There are eight windows, 3 on either side and 2 on the front. The building is grey and the strip indicating the foundation is a darker grey, as are the details around the roof and the windows. At each corner there are staggered rectangle pieces which give the impression of bricks. Similarly, the roof is "shingled" in painted brown cardboard rectangles which are offset each row, as shingles typically are. Each shingle has a different pattern. The front entry extends off the front of the building with a stair case which appears like cement, the doors are framed by columns and the doors are painted with panels and have been cut so they will open. A panel above the door is clearly missing. The roof on the entry way is the same as the larger roof. Above the entry way it seems another detail is missing as a small block of unpainted cardboard is visible. |
