Description |
A large, silver-plate cased, pocket watch manufactured by G.D. Pringle, dated between 1871-1916. The pocket watchcase is silver-plated with a floral design engraved on the back. The face is protected by a heavy, bevelled glass crystal. The face is white enamel with 60 minutes marked with black strokes. Inside the strokes are Roman numerals (I-XII) in 5 minute increments. Outside the strokes there are minute markings in 5 minute increments in red Arabic numerals (5-60). The minute and hour hands are blued-steel. A seconds timer dial on the bottom half of the face has a separate hand. There is a brass winding stem on the top of the watchcase with a metal loop for the watch chain. Just above the centre on the watch face there is a maker's mark which reads "G.D. Pringle, Guelph." |

Dimension Details |
The time piece is circular, with a diameter of 5.8 cms. The loop and winding mechanism at the top of the watch are approximately 2.4 cms overall and sit directly above the XII (12 o'clock) numeral on the face. The loop pivots in the stem mechanism. |
